Appearance
:
A'dam has a look of youthful innocence and an angelic smile but one look at his mischievously gleaming eyes and one would know that any similarities between A'dam and anything innocent end with his appearance. A'dam is not fat nor is he overly muscled or large and he most certainly isn't the scrawny sort of youth he used to be. Instead, he falls somewhere in between the two, muscled but not too much, thin yet not too thin. To describe him one would likely say he's average. He doesn't have all the natural good looks that some people are blessed with but he is by no means unattractive. He has a sort of thin face with a slightly longer than average nose. His smile manages to be pleasant, arrogant and mischievous all at the same time. His smile and relative good looks can turn many a girl's head....and he knows it. A source of great annoyance to some people, A'dam's hair is naturally untidy with a tendency to stick up at odd angles. His naturally spiky hair is brown and mostly kept at a short, somewhat manageable length. His eyes are hazel in color though appear mostly brown with flecks of blue and green, with more blue in them than green. His eyes are very expressive, especially considering their tendency to change color depending on his mood (or at least they appear to). When he's feeling particularly angry at someone, his eyes take on a more greenish hue, flashing dangerously and loosing any hint of the mischievous spark or happy glint that they usually carry. When he's exceptionally happy they have more of a bluish hue to them and sparkle more than usual. This 'color changing' however, is merely a trick of the light. As an adventurous young man, A'dam amassed a collection of the typical scars and injuries that many adventurous young men collect over the course of their childhood. Skinned knees, cuts and scrapes, bruises and a rather memorable concussion were common for the young boy. Some of his more 'memorable' scars, as he calls them, are from when he was a bit older. He has a jagged scar running from his knee to just above his hip on his right leg from falling while climbing a rocky outcropping during a visit to the ocean. His left hand also bears a thin scar across the back and over his thumb from when his hand slipped while he was cutting meat for Dranith during his early weyrlinghood. But his largest and most noticeable scar is a series of threadscores across his shoulders and back, trailing onto his chest just a bit. It had been his very first Threadfall and a Thread 'pod' had managed to escape the flames of the upper wings, bursting open just above the young Bluerider. Luckily for A'dam, he'd seen it coming and managed to duck and Dranith swooped to the side to avoid the worst of the Thread though not quickly enough as both were scored before they could jump between to safety.
Personality
:
This young man is constantly planning something. He always is thinking but that doesn't interfere with his daily conversations and routines. He has a ready smile and a quick tongue. He often doesn't think before he speaks and this causes a general disturbance no matter where he is. He has a deep love for dragons and firelizards alike and had hopes of impressing a Bronze or Gold Firelizard when he snatched an egg from a traveling trader who had a clutch. Of course, his little Brown is just as good as any Bronze and he'll be the first to tell you off if you dare to think otherwise. A'dam often speaks before he thinks and often says things that others find highly amusing. He can also be quite insulting when he wants to be and always has a threat ready for those who would pick on him or his Blue. He takes life in stride and just about anything he says should be taken with a grain of salt. He's a shameless flirt but he's just having a bit of fun with the ladies (and sometimes the men too). When he's not flirting with everyone he meets or tending to his dragon, he can usually be found sketching this or that and is not half bad at drawing, having been told that, if he had a mind to, he could turn a small profit selling his work at Gathers. That aside, he had recently discovered a love of gardening, having used information given by AIVAS to create a thriving aquaponics farm in his small homestead outside Snowy Hold. He thrives on being the center of attention and pulling pranks. He is resourceful, determined and has a certain disregard for rules. A'dam is naturally a bit bossy but never so much that he annoys too many people by ordering them about. He can also be kind, compassionate and caring when he needs to be and those who know him best know that the arrogance is mostly an act to prevent people from doubting him or his dragon. This arrogant act also serves to hide some of his fears though it's easy to tell when he's just putting on a brave face. Such as when he's required to go anywhere near the livestock pens or the stables. He may pout on a brave face and do whatever he needs to do there but it's quite obvious that he refuses to get too near the animals, runnerbeasts in particular. He also has a lesser known and easier to hide 'fear' of ghosts. Though this particular fear is more that the idea of the dead still lingering and watching him creeps him out than anything else.
History
:
A'dam was born in Fort Hold and lived there until he was eight turns old when he went to the Healer Hall to start taking lessons at the urging of his parents. He impressed Tahi when he was nine turns old, having snatched the egg from a traveling trade who was trying to sell them off. The size of the egg had him convinced that he'd managed to grab a Bronze or maybe a Gold but he ended up with the little Brown instead. It was shortly after his tenth birthday that something happened that changed his mind about going into the healer craft. A pair of dragonriders had visited the healer hall and A'dam, not knowing this was something that would change his life forever, overheard the two dragons as they chatted. Confused and a little scared, he found the nearest Master he could and told them he could hear the two dragons talking. This set the Master into a fuss and he promptly barged in on the dragonriders and the MasterHealer with A'dam in tow demanding that the riders have their dragons take a look at the, by this point, utterly confused and near terrified child. And sure enough, as soon the Blue, a search dragon that had never searched a candidate that didn't impress, set eyes on the boy he snorted and looked at his rider. 'He's a bit young yet but we should take him. He can Hear us.' A'dam would never forget those words nor the look on the faces of the riders as they decided to heed the dragon's request. He was given a couple days to pack and say goodbye to his friends and family and have things explained to him once he'd calmed down from all the excitement. Due to his unique ability to Hear dragons, he was told, he would be going to Fort Weyr to train as a Dragonhealer (which made sense to him now that he wasn't so confused). And later, when he was old enough, he would Stand as a candidate. So, days later, he arrived at Fort Weyr and the weyrfolk quickly got used to his antics and mischievous ways. He was a good kid, always attending his lessons and doing whatever chores and such were required of him, he was just troublesome when he wanted to be. He made friends easily and at eleven turns old, he had gone runnerbeast riding with one of his friends in the stable. He was bucked and subsequently trampled by his runner, earning a broken arm and bruised and cracked ribs as well. Since then, he has been afraid to approach them despite assurances that the runner had been startled by something and that's why it tossed him. As he grew up in the weyr, he became more and more certain that he would eventually impress a dragon and his hunch was correct, though he didn't impress the dragon he expected nor was he at his 'home weyr' when it happened. He and his mentor had flown to Benden for a hatching at the request of both the Weyrleader and Weyrlingmaster as assistant Dragonhealers. Fifteen turn old A'dam, as was usual in hatchings like this one, was situated off to the side where he could keep an eye on the young dragons and see if any looked like they needed help and be there to assist if anyone had trouble getting their injured hatchlings out of the way. He was busily trying to find a way to both listen for injured dragonets and ignore the many, many Dragon voices when a smallish egg started to hatch but the dragonet inside could not break completely free of it's shell. No one seemed willing to help and A'dam could hear the dragonet pleading for help to escape. So, without a second thought, A'dam had dashed onto the sands where he rushed over to the egg and gave it a good, hard kick to crack the shell enough for a tiny, washed out Blue to spill out at his feet. As the young thing struggled to his feet, he stared up at A'dam with happily swirling eyes and chattered away at him. 'You heard! You heard your Dranith calling and calling and you saved him! He was stuck in the dark but you saved him! But your Dranith is so very hungry. Is there a place we can get something to eat?' A'dam, overwhelmed by the strong emotions from the tiny Blue, could do nothing more than nod as he helped support his dragon as they walked over to the area where he could feed his Dranith. Of course, his impression was unexpected and caused quite a few rumors and various problems as he didn't technically belong at Benden Weyr and, in the opinions of some, should not have impressed a Benden dragon. However, he couldn't leave until his Blue was a bit older and thus was accepted into Weyrling training with the others who had impressed and had lived at Benden ever since, though his first home would always be Fort. Weyrlinghood was a series of ups and downs for the newly impressed bluerider. It was easy to ignore the way some of his fellow weyrlings looked at him, and the rumors that somehow he had planned to 'steal' a Benden dragon. Even the rumors that he had somehow forced Dranith to choose him were ignored. He was stubborn and determined and he wouldn't let anyone tell him he didn't belong. Besides, all he needed to do was remind himself that as soon as he was allowed, he'd go back to Fort and be done with the stuck-up Benden riders and their distaste for him. Of course, as he got older and things settled down, he got used to Benden and, though he still visited Fort when he had the chance, he was not as insistent on returning there permanently. And, thanks to an accident in his first threadfall, he ended up largely unable to return for some time even after graduating to a full rider. A Thread 'pod' had somehow escaped the flames of the upper wings, bursting open just above the young Bluerider. Luckily for A'dam, he'd seen it coming and managed to duck and Dranith swooped to the side to avoid the worst of the Thread though not quickly enough as both were scored before they could jump between to safety. Which meant A'dam and his Blue were grounded until they had healed. But as soon as they were cleared to fight Thread again, the bluerider pair transferred to Fort where they joined the wings of fighting Dragons and saw the end of Thread together with the people A'dam felt most comfortable with. Of course, once Thread was ended and Dragonriders were leaving either to the new Weyrling Academy to train the new generations of dragonriders (a task A'dam was asked to help with and agreed to do only partially) or finding other ways to make themselves useful. Though he had agreed to spend time at the Weyrling Academy as a dragonhealer, A'dam chose to find a permanent residence in a small homestead outside Snowy Hold where he and his dragon could live in peace and decide what, exactly, their future might hold for them.
Pets
:
Gold Firelizard Regina A lovely little gold hatchling with a darker hue than average, and apparently no real blemishes of any kind. In fact, she has a tendency to freak out when someone causes too much trouble. Her frame is a bit larger than average for a gold… and she will demand that it ALWAYS be kept clean… even if she has to dirty her claws herself in dealing with her green sister. This little creature has a nasty little streak for holding grudges and being rather sadistic in everything she does. Quite frankly, she is incredibly narcissistic and believes that she is the ‘fairest of them all,’ at least until someone pays more attention to her Innocent Beauty green sister… the smaller female is definitely hated. One thing that some of the others have to be weary of is her tendency to manipulate those around her. She might not be able to speak like a dragon or a human, but she is still a cunning and manipulative little creature! And she is highly talented at doing wicked things and blaming them on others… without a seconds hesitation. She can even hide things like this from her bonded to try and keep at least that person on her side. Brown Firelizard Tahi Tahi seems to have obtained his bond's sense of adventure. This small brown is, like his bond, always plotting something. He has an annoying habit of playing 'keep-away' with some of the older residents of the weyr. He has an annoying sense that allows him to find the most prized Firelizard-friendly possession in someone's home and he will take that item and hide it. Oftentimes these items are found in some of the most unpleasant spots imaginable (imagine your favorite piece of jewelry in the garbage heap). His hide is a dusty brown that is mixed with a few darker patches here and there. His nicely camouflaged hide comes in quite handy when he is hiding among the rocks and trees and this devilish little lizard has even figured out the art of disguising himself to hide even better. Green Firelizard Eira This green is very similar in some ways to her accidentally heroic sister, although her hide is slightly lighter. She has a look of innocence around her, something that is rather odd all things considered. She is a very wild hearted female at times. She is incredibly close to her princely brother, although she is incredibly friendly towards most. Much like her sister, she is highly protective of her loved ones, and far better at protecting them...in her own way.
Dragon/Dolphin Name
:
Blue Dranith
Dragon/Dolphin Appearance
:
Dranith is a smaller Blue, but very quick and agile. Size is definitely not an issue for this determined dragon who will push himself to his limits and beyond just to prove he can. He is a very light color, almost like the sun had bleached his hide to a ghost of his former color. In the dark, with hardly enough light to see by, he looks ghostly pale, almost white. But during the day when the sun is on him, he is most definitely blue though still that same washed-out color that leads some to believe that he, like Ruth before him, is some manner of throwback or sport. But unlike the legendary White Dragon, Dranith is not genderless nor is he -that- much smaller than his fellow Blues, being only about the size of your average green (approx~ 27-28m). He's also a bit thinner and leaner than others but it doesn't adversely affect his stamina or agility. Measurements: Length: ~27.5m (~90ft) Wingspan: ~45.8m (~150ft) Arm: ~3.6m (~11.8ft) Leg: ~6.3m (~20.6ft)
Dragon/Dolphin Personality
:
Dranith is sort of a quiet dragon, reserved and unlikely to speak if nothing needs saying. He may have been much more vocal as a hatchling but he has grown up and prefers silence or physical noises over mindpseech though no one, with the possible exception of A'dam, knows why. His voice is melodic and pleasing though his bubbling croons or fond chirps communicate more than actual mindspeech. Despite this, he's not stupid - able to understand what goes on around him perfectly well, thank you very much. Much like his rider in that he's stubborn and determined to prove himself, Dranith tends to ignore anyone who comments badly on himself or his rider. He is very attached to A'dam and their bond is strong enough that Dranith can generally communicate with his rider without words, instead using emotions or vocal sounds to convey whatever it is that he wants. He can also spend hours on end just listening to A'dam talk, commenting on this or that if he feels the need but otherwise just letting A'dam talk about whatever. A'dam is the only one able to calm Dranith when he's upset and it's obvious that the two are a great pair and well matched.

Enelve Irden (4:08:46 PM): Or can the waterfall be the start? Enelve Irden (4:09:06 PM): I'm thinking, glacier trapped in a valley and its runoff flows over a cliff and starts a river. zippo933 (4:09:11 PM): I just want a waterfall. I thought of a name for A'dam's little homestead and it needs a waterfall to work. >.> Enelve Irden (4:09:18 PM): ah Enelve Irden (4:09:33 PM): well, he probably wouldn't want to go swimming in it if it starts life as a glacier Enelve Irden (4:09:34 PM): lol Enelve Irden (4:09:40 PM): but that would work Enelve Irden (4:10:07 PM): *that = having a waterfall for his homestead zippo933 (4:10:20 PM): I don't think he'd go swimming in it really. I was mostly thinking of the potential for getting water for his little farm-thing easily. Enelve Irden (4:10:35 PM): yeah zippo933 (4:10:36 PM): though a warmer water source would make bathing dranith easier. xD Enelve Irden (4:10:49 PM): it could have a hot spring, too, maybe downstream a ways Enelve Irden (4:11:00 PM): he could dam it up below the hot spring and make warm waters
