Candidatemaster's Interview

On the eve of your first night in the Weyr as a Candidate, the Candidatemaster (or Headwoman) will interview you and inform you of the rules that govern Candidates.

Weyrlingmaster's Interview

These questions are asked by the Weyrlingmaster on the eve of your first night in the Weyr as a Candidate.  Answer them honestly based on your character's personality; this interview impacts the group of Candidates you will be spending your Candidacy with (and potentially, the weyrlings you will spend your weyrlinghood with).

There are no right or wrong answers to the question below.  Answer honestly about how your character would truly react (ignoring the fact that you're talking to the Weyrlingmaster about it).

To perfect my skills as a dragonhealer and service the Weyr as best as possible.

Why would you make a good dragonrider?
I've grown up around dragons and am learning dragonhealing. With a dragon, I could be a more effective dragonhealer by being able to communicate with injured dragons through mine.

If you are not accepted as a Candidate, what would you do?
This is my last chance to stand as a Candidate, so I would complete my training as a dragonhealer and remain at the Weyr. I may transfer to another Weyr if needed.

I am presenting myself.

Dragonhealing, no specialty.

Benden Weyr

How many siblings/fellow fosterlings did you have?
I was raised in the creche, so I had quite a few fosterlings of varying ages growing up.

What kind of tasks did you perform in your former residence?
When I was younger, I ran errands for riders and other Weyr residents. When I was 14, I started learning dragonhealing and spent most of my time in the infirmary.

How many times have you encountered a dragon and/or dragonrider (including what color/rank, if known)? A Lord and/or Lady Holder? A Craft Master and/or Craftmaster?
Dragons and dragonriders? Too many to count, of every color and rank. I've never met a Lord or Lady Holder in person, although I've seen several from a distance, most frequently the Lord and Lady Holder of Benden Hold. I'm training under the Master Dragonhealer here at Benden, and I've met the Mastervintner.

You see a Journeyman Crafter, apparently in his late teens, picking on a much younger, smaller Apprentice. What do you do?
I step in and tell the Journeyman to leave the Apprentice alone and report the incident to the Journeyman's Master later.

You encounter a fellow Candidate in a nearly empty corridor; she's clearly distraught. You find out that she just received news that her parents were killed in a mining accident. What do you do?
I suggest finding a more private place and comfort her.

You're awakened in the middle of the night by a fellow Candidate sneaking out of your shared barracks. He confesses that he's going to play a prank on one of the Candidates. What do you do?
I tell him he really shouldn't, and then join him and hope we don't get caught.

During a stint in the livestock area, a group of herdbeasts stampedes when a dragon flies over. Three younglings running around in the fields are trampled. What do you do?
I tell one of the other people working in the area to get help and go to try to help the injured younglings.

You are given a week of restdays during which you can do absolutely anything you want. How do you spend them?
Well, first I'd see if there's a Gather going on somewhere (there often is) and go to it (or them). I'd run a dragon poker tournament or two at the Weyr, see if there are any other events going on (rodeos, some runnerbeast races, maybe) and attending them.
